Meadow Brae is a family endeavor founded in 2020. Working with Nature, we strive to ensure the highest quality using sustainable practices in everything we do. We are passionate about our plants whether they are for food, health or simply for their natural beauty.
We open in April, with our Garden Center, featuring 'weird and wonderful' varieties of annual and perennial plants, hanging basket workshops, and custom and retail hanging baskets/planter. We have a 'build a basket' station in the shop where customers can create their own bespoke creations with or without our guidance, or we can take your order and do it for you - for no extra charge. In keeping with our reuse it ethos, we also accept ANY CLEAN horticultural plastic pots and trays, even if you didn't buy them from us. **We are a FireSmart landscaping program participant and all our perennials are chosen with this and drought resistance in mind as well as being considered 'native' for our area.**
In June, we are open by appointments or only on weekends where we switch attention to our 'superior' haskaps. We believe they are superior because we start picking generally 2 weeks later than when many producers offer theirs because we test the sweetness and start picking when the berries are ripe and sweet; not sour or tart as they sometimes have this undeserved reputation. Picking usually finishes towards the end of July.
Throughout the summer, we sell edible flowers, frozen haskaps and perennials by appointment. We also offer our beautiful property as a canvas venue to caterers, wedding or corporate planners for special events.
